Leading Beyond You

Leadership, the substance of who you are becoming, is an expression of your core. It is the core of who you really are, who you are allowing yourself to be developed into, who you are intentionally or unintentionally influencing others to be. One key element of your own self development as a leader is understanding that authentic, difference-making leadership, is never really about you. It’s about the people you serve, the people assigned to your life, the people you lead. At your core, as a leader, you must be concerned, focused, and intentional about how your influence can shape the lives of those following you. At your core, you must develop and expand your capacity to do something more, different, and better – for someone else, for that someone you have the opportunity to lead and serve. Leadership is not about you. It’s beyond you.
